Find out why Lifft are 'Lord of the Slings'!!!

The Lifft Sling is Scientifically Proven to Improve your Posture by Keeping your Spine Straighter!

The Lifft Sling has been 'scientifically proven' to reduce the extent of 'lateral trunk flexion' and keep the spine straighter whilst walking and standing. This is very important after childbirth when our stomach muscles are unable to offer sufficient support to the spine.

Spine is visibly straighter when carrying child in the Lifft Sling

Without the Lifft Sling 'Lateral Trunk Flexion' is potentially damaging to the lower spine.

In March 2008 we were approached by a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the Department of Allied Health Professions, UCLan. Pregnant with her first child, she had bought a Lifft Sling after witnessing a young mum putting her toddler in the sling. "The positive effects on the mothers posture were instant" she told us, impressed at how the mother could stand up straight rather than 'kicking' out her hip to support her son. She then asked if she could pass our sling on to her colleagues at the 'NorthWest Biomechanical Testing Facilities' who could prove once and for all that the sling really does improve your posture when carrying an infant.

Lifft slings were tested at the Movement Analysis Laboratory at UCLan which is one of the top facilities of its type currently in use in Europe. Trinny and Susannah used the laboratory in a recent study to find out whether wearing high heeled shoes has an impact on bottom wobble!

The focus of the departments research is to support research in Health Care Professions and to help answer important and clinically relevant research questions, including the investigation of the effectiveness of products designed to interact with the body (ie The Lifft Sling was a perfect product to be tested!).

The testing facility used state of the art technology as used when producers created Gollum in Lord of the Rings! Electrodes and Sensors are placed on the testers body and special cameras analyse the position of these markers as the tester moves. These are tracked via special software and 3D imaging can be used to re-create a skeleton or creature such as Gollum!

Three female participants were tested both standing and walking whilst carrying a toddler sized load with the sling and without the sling. Sensors were attached to the womens bodies in areas such as the knee, hip, shoulder and state of the art cameras captured the position of these markers throughout the experiment. 3D imaging was then used to recreate the position of the markers and show how these markers were affected by using the sling. The research showed that in all cases, carrying an infant in the Lifft sling reduced the inflexion (curve) of the spine which was witnessed when the testers were not using the sling. Thus, improving posture by keeping your spine straighter!

In conclusion, not only does the Lifft sling look good, it's also good for you!!
